Honourable Debo Ogundoyin, two time law maker, has emerged as the Speaker of the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly. The 32-year-old lawmaker, representing Ibarapa East constituency was elected unopposed with the unanimous voice vote of the 32-member assembly on Monday.

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Debo Ogundoyin was once a co-manager of DremoDrizzy, an artist signed under singer, Davido’s record label.

Davido took to his Instagram to congratulate the youthful speaker. He said, “I love when Dreams come true!!!!! 3 years ago you were co  managing @dremodrizzy with me ! Today you became THE SPEAKER OF THE OYO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY!!! I am so happy and Proud of you!!! Haha OGUN D !! #3 !! @debo_ogund!”

Debo Ogundoyin, who hails from Ibarapa east LGA is the son of Adeseun Ogundoyin, the late industrialist. The new speaker’s emergence came shortly after Seyi Makinde, the state governor, had inaugurated the assembly. Ogundoyin was first elected into the state house of assembly in 2018, following the death of Michael Adeyemo, the former speaker, who also hails from Ibarapa east.
