2Baba cancels planned protest over security concerns and public safety

Superstar musician 2Baba has cancelled the #IStandWithNigeria protests scheduled to hold in Lagos and Abuja on Monday February 6th 2017. He said that the decision was made after due consultations across board and discovery that the protests were under threat of hijack by elements not aligned with the interests of the protesters. Recall that the brave musician had urged all Nigerians regardless of party affiliations to join him as he leads an anti-government protest registering the displeasure of Nigerians with the state of governance by the APC led government.

His announcement was greeted with a lot of criticisms from members of the academia, some of his  colleagues, chief being his former group colleague, Blackface and the presidency through President Buhari‘s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie. The Lagos State Police Command had also advised the music star to halt the action citing security reasons as they have intelligence report that hoodlums were planning to hijack the protests to perpetuate criminal activities. The police which had on Friday made a decision to provide secrity for the planned protest while also asking that it be shelved.
